More Romans 8. IF we do submit ourselves to endure the sufferings as well as hope for the glory of Christ, we do have the knowledge that the glory to come will be immeasurably worth the suffering we have to go through now. We know that living for what we can have on earth is absolute futility if we are just going to die to leave it all here. To live in the bondage of the pursuit of things is to waste the time we have been given on this earth. Tell me if I’m wrong, but your hearse won’t be pulling a u-haul behind it. “Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees?” Are you hoping for what you see? If that’s all you are hoping for…then by all means, go get it!! We all know that what is seen CAN be had by our own works. If that’s all their is….well then I want it, and I want it NOW!! What would I be waiting for….if I want it, I better get it as quickly as possible, right? Only live once, and not very long at that!! “But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.” That’s right…we can’t get what we are hoping for while we are still here anyway. We know we are Gods children, and we live to glorify him. We can’t see it, so we can hope for it patiently. We are in no hurry, but it is a sweet anticipation. We can know what the prize is, and stay on course to finish the longer race!! We can get through the tough times in this life, the bitterness, the heartbreak, knowing that we are set apart from the world around us, looked down on, mocked, because there it is – “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28. Not that everything that happens to us will be good. If you are in recovery like me, the actions you took, the destruction you wrought in your own life and family weren’t good. If you’ve had tragedies in your life, been hurt by others, even those you love most, none of that is good. But the promise here is that if we love Christ and work for his purposes, He will work it all for our good!!! Not that we have a right demand from God that we get all that we want when we want it. Just that everything that happens to us will be worked into the greater plan God has for our lives – IF we believe, and allow ourselves to be called to the duty God has planned for us!! “And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.” Have you been called??
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.”
