Best news I’ve heard!

This is some good news here!!  Jesus Christ talking about the power and position He has in relation to the Father.
So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing.   “Truly truly” – Jesus is about to say something important.  Jesus does nothing that is apart, separate or different from the father.   He does the same things just as the Father does – claiming equality with the Father.  The Father loves the Son, and love hides nothing.  Their interests and nature are one, and what the Father has shown the Son, the Son willfully carries out as the mediator between the Father and man.  Not only that – the Father and Son are unified.  The Son is a reflection of the Father.  If you want to know the nature of the Father we can not see, we look to the Son.  There we find the true nature of the Father.

And greater works than these will he show him, so that you may marvel. For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will.  I don’t think anyone had yet been resurrected, by the Father or the Son, so this was said so those who heard would remember later.  Just as the Father raised Jesus on the third say, just as Jesus raised His friend Lazarus, He will raise us from the dead as well.  Whether you’re talking spiritual death or physical, it doesn’t matter.  The wages of sin is death – He can (and does) resurrect you from that spiritual death, no matter how grave or ugly your sin is.

The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father.   I think this is one of the most hopeful verses in the bible.  Jesus is our ultimate eternal judge?  How great is that?  We have seen how He judges.  “Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.”  John‬ ‭8:10-11‬ ‭ESV‬‬.  “And the Pharisees and their scribes grumbled at his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” And Jesus answered them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:30-32‬ ‭ESV‬‬.   “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” ‭‭John‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭ESV‬‬.  So – we are judged by that guy?  We are judged not by the monster God we’ve lived in fear of, but by the Son who came to die for us, who came specifically to save and not condemn?   The one who came to call the sinners to Himself, who did not reject and avoid but sought out and broke bread with?  We are judged by our own advocate?   Very hopeful…

Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.   The words of the Son – “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” ‭Matthew‬ ‭11:28‬ ‭ESV‬‬.  The words of Him who sent the Son – “And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, my Chosen One; listen to him!” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭9:35‬ ‭ESV‬‬. Believe the One who sent Him.  Believe His word.  Do not pass into judgement, but pass from death to life.  The best news I’ve ever heard…
